4:19-37 Pride and Judgment Nebuchadnezzar was a prideful king, boasting of all he had built. Daniel pleaded with him to stop sinning, to break from his wicked past and be merciful to the poor. As Proverbs 16:18 says: “Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall.” Nebuchadnezzar failed to heed God’s warnings, and as a result, he was removed from his kingdom to live in the fields, eating grass with the wild animals. Later, God restored Nebuchadnezzar, who finally humbled himself before the Most High (4:34).
