2:1-3 Finding Comfort The city of Capernaum appears in many New Testament passages. To modern readers, the city is associated with healing and miracles. Even the city’s name itself can be a reminder of the acts that occurred there (Capernaum means “city of comfort”). It was a city where not only those who were in need could find friends, like the four who carried the paralytic, but where many people received comfort and healing from Jesus.
