2:23-24 God’s Prearranged Plan Everyone suffers. No one is exempt. Jesus experienced the extremely painful death of crucifixion not by accident but according to God’s prearranged plan (2:23; 4:27-28). God’s call to Paul included suffering for the sake of the Kingdom of God (9:16). But remember: The God who permits suffering is good. No pain is forgotten by God; no suffering is wasted in his divine plan. It is permitted for a good purpose and a glorious end.
