8:1-8 Uncharted Territory Though difficult and unpleasant, suffering because of religious persecution became the catalyst through which Jesus’ great commission (Matt 28:18-20) would be fulfilled. The disciples moved from Jerusalem into Judea and Samaria, and eventually to the entire world (Acts 1:8). Suffering often forces us out of our “comfort zones” into unfamiliar, uncharted territory. But this may be exactly where God planned to take us all along.
8:26-40 When Opportunity Meets Preparation It’s been said that success is what happens when opportunity meets preparation. Being used by God is primarily a matter of willingness and availability, together with appropriate preparation. All members of God’s family are equipped with spiritual and other gifts (Rom 12:6-8; 1 Cor 12:1-11, 29-31; Gal 5:22-23). Unfortunately, people with disabilities are often excluded from serving in the church. But everyone who is willing and available should be given the opportunity to serve God and to be used by God as a blessing to others.
