3:23 Sin: The Great Equalizer “Everyone has sinned.” This truth might make us think that we are exempt and somehow justified to sit in judgment over some people who we believe are suffering because they have sinned in some way. Yet the simple statement “everyone has sinned” undermines any such condescension we could feel toward others. We are no different than the people around us—we all have sinned. Recognizing we are all on common ground, we can find helpful ways to engage in each other’s suffering, whether the suffering was caused by sin or not.
