15:40-44 Raised in Glory There will come a day when our bodies that were once buried in weakness will be raised to live in strength. What a glorious truth that brings encouragement to our souls! It was good news to the believers in Corinth, and it is good news to us today. This is our hope! This is our life! This is our Christ!
15:57 Christ Is the Victor In his death and resurrection, Christ has conquered sin and death. Knowing that Christ has achieved the ultimate victory changes how we respond to our present circumstances. Paul writes in present tense when he tells us that God “gives us victory . . . through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Victory in Christ is ongoing, for which Paul says, “thank God!” When Christ returns, the world will at last witness the truth for which we have labored and suffered as foreigners and temporary residents in this life. Thanks be to God, indeed!
15:58 Be Strong and Immovable Paul challenges the church in Corinth to hold on to their faith. Even in the midst of a pagan culture, they should not waver but be steadfast and immovable in the sure hope of eternity with Christ. Whether working as a parent, a caregiver, a person with a disability, a student, or an elder saint, we can live out this Scripture in the knowledge that our work in the Lord is not in vain—even if it feels insignificant or unnoticed.
