arns
When you first go shopping for yarn/wool you will notice that as well as a fantastic range of colours to choose from there is a dazzling array of types, thicknesses and weights available.
It’s important to choose the correct weight of yarn for the project that you’re making, and most patterns should tell you the size of needle to use AND the type or weight of yarn required.
Usually the weight or type of yarn is printed on the label — also known as the ball band — that is wrapped around it. The label will tell you the weight of the yarn, the tension, the washing instructions, and the most suitable needle size to use.
If you are crocheting a project that will use more than one ball of yarn, you should also check for the ‘dye lot’ number on the
band to ensure they are all the exact same colour.
