M aking a Slip Knot
All crochet work begins with a slip knot which acts as your first stitch and can be tightened or loosened easily.
Step 1: First make a loop, about 15cm in from the tail end of the yarn.
Step 2: Now pull the “working” end of the yarn (the yarn that leads to the ball) through the loop.
Step 3: This new loop is now your slip knot.
Step 4: Now slip your crochet hook through this loop and pull gently on both ends of the yarn to tighten the loop. It should still be able to move freely up and down your hook, otherwise it is too tight.
