J oining Yarn

Whether starting a new ball of yarn, or joining in a new colour, the technique for joining in is the same. Always make the change at the beginning of a new row.

Step 1: Fasten off the first colour – see below. Now make a slip knot with the new colour. Insert your hook through the first stitch of the row, then slip the slip knot over your hook.

Step 2: Draw the new colour through the stitch. Yarn over hook (yrh) and work one chain stitch – this will secure the new colour, then continue to work your stitches as normal.
