About the Author

Marie (Mickey) Mongan, the former dean of a women’s college, is the Director of the HypnoBirthing Institute, outside of Concord, New Hampshire. Mongan brings to her hypnotherapy and HypnoBirthing classrooms over thirty years of experience in education and counseling on the college level, and in the public and private sector. Early in her career, Mongan received recognition when she was named one of five outstanding New Hampshire educators and granted a Ford Foundation Fellowship to Harvard University.

She is licensed by the state of New Hampshire as a counselor and holds certification as an advanced clinical hypnotherapist, a hypnoanesthesiologist and an instructor of hypnotherapy. She holds many awards for achievement in the field of hypnotherapy, including the National Guild of Hypnotists President’s Award, and the much-coveted Charles Tebbetts award for her contribution to the understanding and acceptance of hypnotherapy within the medical field. She also is a recipient of the Plymouth State College Alumni Achievement Award.

In the spring of 1992, Mongan traveled to Moscow as an American Diplomat with the Bridges for Peace Foundation, where she taught personnel management techniques to Russian women.

Mickey Mongan is the mother of four adult children, all born with the Dick-Read method on which the HypnoBirthing philosophy is based. Her practice has included group and individual work in a wide spectrum of therapy applications, in addition to the HypnoBirthing program that she shares with you in this book.
