Kristin Wolden Nitz lived for three and a half years in Northern Italy, where her family made up the entire American community. She holds a degree in electrical engineering from Michigan Technological University and is the author of several articles, short stories, and nonfiction sports books for children. Nitz currently resides in Missouri with her husband and three children. Defending Irene is her first novel for young readers.
