The typical man struggling against impurity is actually caught in an identity crisis. Many feel like the man who said, “… For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.…What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?” (Rom. 7:15,24).
Men have been told that they are powerless against sin and will have to struggle with it for the rest of their lives. Some continue to try killing their old flesh nature, while others believe that their actions accumulate and form their identity. Essentially, Christian men don’t know who they are, and this is why they don’t live rightly. Once a man can get a revelation of himself as a new creation in Christ, then the right identity and lifestyle will be secured within him.
