Makes 6 to 8 sandwiches
1 c. cider vinegar
2 T. sugar
1 T. salt
3 to 4-lb. pork loin roast
1 T. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 c. catsup
Optional: hot pepper sauce to taste
6 to 8 sandwich buns, split
Mix together vinegar, sugar and salt. Pour over roast in a slow cooker. Cover and cook on low setting for 10 to 12 hours, until pork pulls from bones. Remove and cool; pull apart and shred. Mix 6 to 8 tablespoons of cooking liquid with Worcestershire sauce and catsup. Pour over pork and add hot sauce to taste, if desired; mix well. Spoon shredded pork and sauce onto buns.
Alongside sticky, ooey-gooey comfort foods, set out a basket of warm, moistened washcloths. Dampen washcloths with water and a little lemon juice, roll up and microwave on high for 10 to 15 seconds. Guests will thank you!
