Makes 2-1/2 dozen
4 c. all-purpose flour
2 T. baking powder
2 t. salt
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. milk
2 T. butter, melted
Combine flour, baking powder and salt; cut in shortening with 2 forks or a pastry cutter. Stir in milk; roll out to 1/2-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Cut with a biscuit cutter; arrange in an ungreased 13"x9" baking pan. Drizzle with butter; bake at 450 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes, until golden.
Keep bread or rolls nice and warm during dinner. Before arranging rolls in a bread basket, place a terra-cotta warming tile in the bottom and line with a homespun tea towel. Now pass the butter, please!
