Vince was out of the hospital and back on the job within two days. Probably a bit too soon, but he wasn’t about to hang around at his apartment. Not when Cherise was on the schedule.
The hospital was the very place he wanted to be.
He used his light-duty day to catch up on the project he’d been assigned by the COM personally. Dr. Holden-Deane had called Vince into his own room next door right after Vince had been discharged.
Mostly to check on Vince and Cherise personally. To hear details about the mugging.
When Vince had mentioned the citrusy smell of the attacker, Holden-Deane’s attention had sharpened. “Solpalmitraln has a lemon scent.”
Vince hadn’t known that. And he’d told his boss that. “You think this has something to do with those missing drugs?”
“I don’t know. But I’m going to have my man with the TSP look into it.”
The COM had promised to keep Vince in the loop. He appreciated it.
Rafael Holden-Deane was bringing change to FCGH. It was about time, but Vince wondered just what repercussions—and costs—those changes were going to bring. Those boxes of missing Solpalmitraln were out there somewhere. He just hoped they were found before any other people became victims of whatever was going on at Finley Creek General.
Vince was going to keep his eyes and ears open. Because something was wrong at FCGH.
He’d just make a point to keep Cherise as safe as possible until Holden-Deane and the TSP found the answers.
