(To be sung to “The Hokey Pokey”)
You put your right foot in,
your right foot out.
You rest a minute, then try
to shake it all about.
Now put your left foot in,
your left foot out,
then you try to remember
which damned foot you were supposed to be on.
You turn yourself around
and try hard not to fall
as you feel for your pulse
to see if any’s there at all.
You wave your right hand in,
You drag your left foot out,
Then you look for the men’s room
to plot the straightest route.
You do the Oldguy Shuffle
and struggle to maintain
your upright position
to reach the last refrain.
As you turn around once more,
you could be checking out, but you’ve
danced on death’s trap door again,
and that’s what it’s all about.
