A Note to the Girls

Even way back in the early 1600s, William Shakespeare, speaking of Cleopatra, got the joke: A confident, sensual woman is ageless and unforgettable. And then centuries later in the 1920s the godmother of seductive, feminine sensuality, Coco Chanel, brought us Chanel No. 5, the indispensable LBD (little black dress), and the mind-set that “for one to be irreplaceable, one must always be different.”

But somewhere between Coco and Nicole Kidman, sensuality and seduction became a spectator sport. We “normal” women sat back and watched the famous beautiful people have all the fun, settling for living vicariously through the loves and lives of Hollywood celebrities and literary characters.

Well, I agree with Justin Timberlake, sweet man-child that he is: It’s time to bring sexy back! And that “sexy” is YOU!

This book began as a reminder to myself, and now to you, that we cannot neglect for too long the vibrant, sexy enchantress within. We women get so bogged down underneath all of life’s details that we forget the soft, sensual sides of ourselves. And by the time we can exhale, sit down, and remember, society is telling us that part of our life is over. It is my hope that Weapons of Mass Seduction, part flirt manual, part fiction, will help you find your way to (or back to) your elegant inner bombshell.

I would like to acknowledge some sexy women in their own right: My mom, Mable, and my mother-in-law, Judith Ann. My editor, Janet Hill. Marie Brown, a graceful warrior and a loving, supportive friend. The hottest moms on the planet—the ladies of Mothers Off Duty; the coolest authors on earth and my Femme Fantastik tour mates—Nina Foxx and Carmen Green; and the best mentor in the world—Beverly Hemmings, a woman who makes aging gracefully look so damn good and sexy!

To my handsome focus group: Craig Woolridge, Joe Nunn, Douglas Neri, Madison Jackson, Ken Holley, and Ted Bell, thank you for being so candid about what makes a woman attractive.

Clarence Haynes and Christian Nwachukwu, thank you for your patient assistance.

And thanks to all the Boy Toys, Big Dogs, and Sweeties who inspire us and make being a seductive woman so much damn fun.

Enjoy this journey and, as always, Expect Good Things!
