Timeless

image

Sylvia Plath once said

“a future was lost yesterday”

and it’s true. Losing something

without a doubt of feeling

the way we feel can be

an unbreakable haven.

I know this summer

would be cruel without you.

I kept so many secrets

from my family but I wish

they knew what you are to me.

Dirty jokes floods the room

with laughter and joy.

But so close to you

is where I want to be.

I don’t want to get lost

with the times

when you are not around.

I want to be timeless

being in love with you.

No, I don’t want to seek

attention every time

we’re in public.

The haunting of my heart saying,

”I don’t want to lose you.”

Time seems to fade away

when we have another.

I don’t want anyone else

if the candlelight is all

we’ve got to light up the room.

High on the wire

walking slowly

as we realize we’ve got

nothing to lose

when it comes to love.

I got scared of the view.

I saw monsters in the ocean.

I lost the blues when it comes

down to what’s real.

Neon pink ashes as we found

each other in bad times.

I don’t know if what’s better

when it’s been all about you.

I was happier before the real you

came along and destroyed me.

“I don’t want to lose you”

echoes in my mind

as you went back to her.

Manhattan’s pastel pink skies

is all that we saw burning bright.

I honored you and bless my heart.

We fought before you said,

“you are the only one.”

I want to be timeless with you.
