Twisted Cruelty

image

A twist in fate that changes into something

better than what we’ve got buried underneath.

Teenage dreams coming truthfully.

I don’t regret all the guys I’ve dismissed

and disposed of because it led me to you.

I knew of cities cruel than a villain,

more deafening than a sorceress’ scream.

I knew how I ran when I was younger.

Looking back at everything I’ve done.

I don’t regret every word I’ve said.

Though in twisted reality I loved and left.

Aimed higher than what other girls

wanted to have in their lifetime.

As a child, I wanted the Zac Efron type

but he was brutal and cruel to give love to.

I never knew I wanted the sensible guy

to make a house a home for a girl like me.

They all tried to dispose of me

when I was twenty-two and naïve.

I was the flame they tried to put out.

Curiosity never killed me. It’s something

that made me who I am and I love that

fact about the things that made me whole.
