Sunday Evening

image

Sunday evening,

we packed our bags

just to leave for the city.

I thought it would be

the last thing we do.

I don’t want you to leave

for Prague and Rome.

Sunsets and walks on the beach.

I remember you doing the same

thing with your ex-girlfriend.

We’re not the same girl.

We don’t like the same things.

But we think for each other,

deja vu is not something you wanted.

I wanted us to tour the city.

Finding new things to do together

without the need of open skies

and the summer heat.

It doesn’t have to be on our itinerary.

But babe, we could be sharing

a glass of milkshake under the Californian sun.

New England chowder in the pot

as I turned on the radio.

My hips and your strength above me.

We contributed to the glory

of one night together alone.

Just one night without fighting

with each other like we’ve done before.

Keep the bright lights of the city

outside while you send me over the edge.

Can you feel my heart beating fast?

Our idols were at war before we seen

the last of the noises people make.

You understand me that’s all I need

from a love like this.
