As Children Grow

Expression

Children become increasingly expressive as they grow older. You can portray kids under a year old through their innocence and quirks, with or without smiles. Children two to four years old are even quirkier and more animated, and they are able to hold a pose for a few moments. Talk with them and they may stay longer. When they tire a bit, they tend to settle down for more pictures.

Affection

Tammy was lucky to capture a tender moment between Mom and Dad as he showed his love with a soft kiss. Look for displays of affection and be ready to capture them—whether it is a kiss or cuddle between the parents or a bear hug between siblings. Canid, emotionally charged images like these are meaningful to clients and are sure sellers.

Three Times the Fun

When you’re conducting a session, keep your bottom line in mind. How can you increase your sales potential? Have you “shot through” a pose, capturing the subject from various flattering angles? Have you altered the pose for added options?

Here, Tammy did three shots—each very different but in the same location. When grouped together, these images make for a beautiful, visually cohesive display that the family will cherish.
