These portraits are fine examples of featuring a baby in an artistic way. Little Jacob’s mom wasn’t comfortable posing for pictures, so Tammy incorporated just her hands and arms. Tammy explains, “I used symbols of her presence to show her strong involvement.”
Jacob’s mom held him for two pictures. Her elbows were braced on the arm of the sofa, and Jacob was laid on her arms. When he was wrapped in a soft blanket, Tammy shot straight down at him. In yet another image, Mom compares their finger sizes. Little Jacob was well depicted in these intimate, charming pictures.
Tammy has a wonderful studio with lots of floor space. In it, she has access to east-facing windows and north-facing windows. Northern window light is very soft and flattering; it emulates the light that filters through thin clouds producing even, beautiful lighting results.
Studios offer easy changeable backgrounds, props, space to pose groups, and a controlled atmosphere for lighting and posing that you don’t always have outdoors or in other locations. No matter the weather, your clients can keep appointments and be comfortable, and those conditions can add to your potential profits.
