Tammy photographed this family as the boys grew up. Recently, their parents, Chris and Susie, asked Tammy to create some family images that show their togetherness and their individuality as couples. The couple’s younger son, Alex, was preparing to leave the nest soon. Included in the pictures is the older son Nick’s beautiful bride to be. This was a family in transition. With this in mind, Tammy posed them together, yet separate, in two different settings. The sons are following their own paths, but they are still chesrished family members.
In these shots, the parents hug, son and future wife gaze at each other and dance near the surf, and the single son is a happy spectator. There is love in this family, projected in their expressions. Tammy shows five individuals as a unique unit.
Canon EOS 5D Mark II with EF 70–200mm f/2.8L IS USM lens. Exposure: 1/500 second at f/4 and ISO 400. Natural light only.
Exposure: 1/200 second at f/5.6 and ISO 400. Flash fill.
The well-coordinated, beach-friendly attire and the fun poses lend a sense of movement and vitality to the portraits.
This book has been a creative project for Tammy and myself. She introduced me, photographically, to her attractive subjects, many of whom have been regular clients. Tammy’s talent, style, and personality have made her portrait business successful for many years. In one word, I feel Tammy’s images have verve, which means having spirit, enthusiasm, and artistic flair. I’ll drink to that.
