Bilingual Acting Workshop brings together multilingual and multicultural individuals to enhance their expression, education, and networking through related studies in media, theatre, and film.
In 2008 BAW opened a New York affiliate in conjunction with the Living Theatre. In May 2010, Amy Werba founded with Judith Malina the Living Theatre Conservatory. She then co-produced with the Living Theatre the first MasterLab in 2012, featuring Olympia Dukakis. New Voices, New Projects was created to unify the artistic community in a multicultural, multilingual, and multi media setting within the arts and entertainment fields. The mission is to provide a Paris-based platform for artists to exhibit and network innovative new projects already in development to an audience comprised of experts in the industry, as well as the broader international community.
There are events (i.e. master classes, presentations, screenings, etc.) where experts in the entertainment and arts industry can share their knowledge and where new projects are pitched. It is also a place where artists can meet, share, and create new projects and can network both domestically and internationally. Professional actors and acting students explore their potential as performers under skilled direction. Directors work with actors, writers workshop original material, and beginners develop communication skills. Beyond the classroom, BAW fosters the development of opportunities for its participants. As a result, several independent professional film and theatre projects have grown out of BAW workshops and classes. BAW is affiliated with The American University of Paris and collaborates with Disneyland Paris, and recently opened a New York branch. Amy Werba, Artistic Director of BAW, founded The Living Theatre Conservatory in 2010 in New York in conjunction with The Living Theatre.
