Greenwich Theatre is committed to providing a nationally unique programme of educational opportunities for young people.

This unique and ever-evolving initiative, run through a dynamic partnership of cultural, social and educational organisations, works with hundreds of young people throughout the year, free of charge, and enables young people to engage with all aspects of theatre production, providing training, career guidance and a renewed sense of purpose to those young people who may have struggled with mainstream modes of learning.

The Theatre has no 'Education' or 'Creative Learning' department, just as it has no 'Theatre' department - it is simply a part of what every member of staff does.

In education, Greenwich Theatre strives to use theatre to tackle the barriers which prevent young people from accessing education, employment or training.

For musical theatre writers, they endeavour to offer developmental opportunities unavailable elsewhere. In programming, they offer a broad, diverse selection of productions to satisfy a broad audience.

On April 2010, Greenwich Theatre launched an important new Artist Development programme, designed to support emerging artists or companies to develop the skills needed to turn their fledgeling vision into reality. Giving the participants access to their well-equipped theatre and the experience of their staff in areas as diverse as production, marketing and fundraising, the programme is designed to support them as they make the often daunting transition from new script to magical play, dream concept to winning funding pitch or cutting edge score to a fully-fledged musical.

Through a range of artist development activities, professional support and industry mentoring, Greenwich Theatre have become a creative hub for a range of new, young or emerging companies. Four of those companies have now been made formal Associate Artists of Greenwich Theatre.
