Hewar Independent Theater Group aims to discuss the issues and ideas of dialogue and conflict between humans and to search in recent humanity issues through focusing on two dimensions; the first is conceptual and the second is creative & practical.
Hewar adapts frameworks of concepts and ethics, including the ethics of dialogue, through the scripts, performance and performers while at the same time presents its work through modern drama structures and liberal artistic models that enable communications across cultures.
Hewar is a group of young independent Theater artists from different fields of performing, and visual arts based in Alexandria, Egypt. They present a new model of theatre productions not only in the content and mechanisms but also in the spaces they perform within.
Their productions use contemporary theatrical methods stemmed from a number of theatre schools such as “theatre of the oppressed” and “improvisation” in addition to the use of a mixture of creative tools in the different performance; video arts, modern dance, live music, the art of clowns.
They perform in different unconventional settings and venues such as apartments, castles, garage, stadiums. The length of their performance ranges between 30 to 90 minutes. Their performances performed in different languages in addition to Arabic.
