Portland Experimental Theatre Ensemble is an artist cooperative dedicated to creating new theatrical events that reify the relationship between audience and artist.
They develop original, ensemble-generated pieces and produce innovative interpretations of the classical text. Inspired by a contemporary design aesthetic, inventive storytelling modes, and to create work that is visceral, raw and revealing.
Portland Experimental Theater Ensemble founded in 2011 by a group of mid-career theatre artists dedicated to creating contemporary works of performance.
PETE strives to reach a broad and diverse audience. They engage traditional audiences in unconventional performance, as well as employing music, media and audience engagement to bring a whole new generation to contemporary theatre.
Through their performances and training centre, they seek to create a vibrant community dialogue with Portland audiences about the transformative power of the live theatrical event.
