Second Impression Theatre Co. was founded in 1992, comprising of both experienced and aspiring performing artists from Brighton, the UK who are committed to staging new, innovative, memorable and often absurd theatre.
Often using minimalist scenery and props, effective lighting, trailing edge sound and unusual themes, this "theatre of the poor" dares the audience to enter the world of imagination where reality takes on new turns and perspectives.
They adhere to some of the basic theatres of the poor principles, on their website they stated some of their beliefs in the following saying.
"Modern man must descend the spiral of his absurdity to the lowest point; only then can he look beyond it. It is obviously impossible to get around it, jump over it, or simply avoid it."
Václav Havel.
"There is no religion in which everyday life is not considered a prison; there is no philosophy or ideology that does not think that we live in alienation."
Eugene Ionesco
Here is a summary of some of their productions, they offer the scripts on their website.
