Tuntreet:
W is when one st is made into two. This can be done in several different ways. Here I have knitted an extra st in the st of the last row.
A Reduce the amount of sts by taking one st off carefully, knitting one st and lifting the previous st back over.
B Reduce the amount of sts by knitting 2 sts together.
S Reduce the amount of sts by taking one st off carefully, knitting two sts and lifting the previous st back over.
CO 3 sts.

Repeat Rows 2–15 until you have 40 reports.
Assembly:
Sew in loose ends, and carefully press (iron) the back of the work without making it completely flat. Alternatively block the lace (see Good Advice) with pins and water. Let it dry while blocked out.
Sew the four parts forming the tree together, no further than about 18cm (7in) from the centre. Sew a leaf in every corner. Place the lace and front piece right sides together, pin and sew together.
Cut a hole for the zip, about 12cm (4in) from the top edge and sew it on. Felted wool does not unravel so it does not need to be folded. Place the front and back pieces right sides together, pin and sew together.
