Hubro from Dale Garn (wool)

700g (1lb 9oz) pearl pink no. 3810

9mm (size 13) needles

Finished size: 50 × 70cm (20 × 28in)

CO 180 sts on a circular needle.

Round 1: Purl the whole way around.

Round 2: *K1, p3, k1, p3, k1, p3, k1, p3, k2*. Repeat these 18 sts from * to* the whole way around, in total 10 times.

Round 3: *Yo1, k1, p2tog, k1, p3, k1, p3, k1, p1, p2tog, k1, yo1, k1*.

Repeat from * to * the whole way around.

Round 4: *K2, p2, k1, p3, k1, p3, k1, p2, k3*. Repeat from * to * the whole way around.

Round 5: *K1, yo1, k1, p2, k1, p2tog,

p1, k1, p1, p2tog, k1, p2, k1, yo1, k2*.

Repeat from * to * the whole way around.

Round 6: *K3, p2, k1, p2, k1, p2, k1, p2, k4*. Repeat from * to * the whole way around.

Round 7: *K2, yo1, k1, p2tog, k1, p2, k1, p2, k1, p2tog, k1, yo1, k3*.

Repeat from * to * the whole way around.

Round 8: *K4, p1, k1, p2, k1, p2, k1, p1, k5*. Repeat from * to * the whole way around.

Round 9: *K3, yo1, k1, p1, k1, p2tog,

k1, p2tog, k1, p1, k1, yo1, k4*.

Repeat from * to * the whole way around.

Round 10: *K5, p1, k1, p1, k1, p1, k1, p1, k6*. Repeat from * to * the whole way around.

Round 11: *K4, p2tog, p2tog, k1, p2tog, p2tog, k5*. Repeat from * to * the whole way around.

The work should now have 14 sts and you should have 140 sts left on the needle

Round 12: Purl the whole way around.

Round 13: *Yo1, k2tog*.

Repeat from * to * the whole way around.

Round 14: Knit the whole way around.

Round 15: Purl the whole way around.

Continue working in knit until work measures 40cm (16in). Cast (bind) off 70 sts and continue with moss stitch (k1, p1 first round, p1, k1 second round) on the back piece for 4 rounds before you cast (bind) off the last 70 sts.

Knit another lace trim but once you finish round 15, continue with 3 rounds of k before you cast (bind) off.

Assembly:

Sew the loose lace trim onto the rest of the pillow so that the moss stitching is underneath. Leave an opening of about 40cm (16in) in the centre. Crochet 6 strings of 15 ch that you tie the opening with, or attach 4 buttons, 3–3.5cm (1¹⁄₄–1¹⁄₂in) in diameter, and use the hole ending as buttonholes.

Sew the lace trim onto each side.
