200g (7oz) red no. 256
200g (7oz) white no. 221
3.5mm (size 4) needles
CO 224 sts of red yarn on a circular needle. Knit the same on the front and back side. Knit the pattern from the diagram (right) 110 sts, finish with p2. Repeat on the back piece.
Start with the panel 1, repeat 18 times in width and finish with the 2 sts in border 1B.
Then knit panel 2 (see Two Pillows in One for pattern).
Finish with panel 3, repeat 18 times in width and finish with the 2 sts in panel 3. In some places there will be pretty long leaps of yarn, it is therefore important to twirl along the yarn in the back. It is also important not to tighten the yarn too much.
Assembly:
Sew in all loose ends, press (iron) carefully and use kitchener stitch in the top.
Sew on buttonhole elastic and buttons as in Good Advice, and kitchener stitch the remaining sts on each bottom side.
