The inspiration for this pillow is from an old mitten pattern where the large birds are on the top of the mitten and the small birds are used on the thumb.

200g (7oz) lime green no. 216
100g (31⁄2oz) blue no. 275
100g (31⁄2oz) turquoise no. 274
50g (13⁄4oz) light green no. 247
3.5mm (size 4) needles
CO 234 sts with green yarn.
Rounds 1–4: Knit 116 sts from diagram, p1, k 116 sts from diagram, p1. Place stitch markers before and after each purl section to help keep track of front and back panels.
Next round: *Starting at row 29 of diagram work across first 116 sts, p1, repeat from * to end.
Continue working from diagram until row 74 is completed. Weave ends in across the back of work, making sure you don’t pull or tighten the yarn.
Work rows 43–60 from diagram, then rows 29–44. Then work rows 1–10 of diagram.
Next round: k116, p1, k116, p1
Repeat last round 3 more times.
Assembly:
Sew in all loose ends and press (iron) the work carefully.
Sew on the buttons as described in Good Advice and sew together on the top and bottom sides using kitchener stitches.
