Materials

Zip 40cm (16in)

Yarn

Sterk from Du Store Alpakka

(alpaca/merino wool/nylon)

200g (7oz) sheep white no. 806

100g (312oz) black/dark grey no. 808

3.5mm (size 4) needles

Finished size: 50 × 50cm (20 × 20in)

CO 236 sts in sheep white yarn on a circular needle and knit k. Knit 5 rows before you start the diagram in the Patterns that goes over 118 sts. Knit the same on both sides or skip the heart on the backside. (It should be 5 white sts on each side of the “paper”.)

It is a good idea to colour the rows that you have finished while you work your way up the diagram. This will make it easier to know where you are at any point of time. It is not necessary to copy every single “word” to get the same look. You can always choose the length of the words yourself.

You will have pretty long leaps of yarn in some places in this work. It is therefore important to weave the yarn along on the wrong side. Make sure you don’t tighten the thread too much.

Continue until you have finished the diagram and finish with 5 rows of white before you cast (bind) off

Assembly:

Sew in all loose ends and press (iron) the work carefully. Sew in the zip as described in Good Advice. Sew together the top and the sides with backstitches on the right side. The seam is a part of the appearance and makes the cushion look more like a newspaper.
