With the steady progress Beverly Inshore made during the first weeks of the project, Jim Ward decided he could afford to take a long weekend and go skiing in New Hampshire with his son. Just after the morning meeting, he reviewed the plans for the remainder of the week and took the site manager aside, telling him he planned to take a trip to New Hampshire for some skiing.

"The forecast looks good, Jim. The weatherman is calling for a couple of inches of fresh snow tonight up in White Mountains if that's where you're headed."

Jim replied, "That's what I'm thinking. It's close enough so I can get back here in a few hours if I have to."

"Well, I don't see any problems for the next phase of the project. It's pretty straight-forward. We'll be trenching for the primary drainage system and backfilling it with crushed stone. Early next week we'll have all the secondary drains tied in. That’s a witnessed inspection point and payment milestone so we'll need you on site for the walk-through and sign off. I'll be thinking of you tackling those Black Diamond trails while I'm here trying to wrestle the main drain pipe into place. I hate working with CPVC in the winter."

"You've got the wrong guy. Green circles are more my style."

The two men laughed as they shook hands and the site manager returned to his desk in the trailer. He retrieved a new site plan from a cabinet that at first glance looked like all the other city-approved plans but included some additional excavation that no one else knew anything about. He had patiently waited for this opportunity. Smiling to himself, he picked up his brick radio and called the foreman.
