Where do Peaches Come From?
Peaches are native to China. They are available from May to October in most parts of the United States. Peaches are classified as free stone when the pit comes away easily from the flesh. In the other type of peach classification, clingstone, the fruit sticks to the pit. Research shows that peaches contain antioxidants that may help inhibit the growth of tumors. Peach pits contain small amounts of cyanide and should be discarded.
