Chapter 8

“Coffee?”

Dani cracked her eyes open and immediately threw her arm over them to shut out the bright morning sun. Weston Stroh stood over her, naked as the day he was born, grinning down at her and holding a steaming cup of coffee.

“Oh my god,” Dani breathed, sitting up and reaching for the mug like a greedy child. “Weston Stroh, I absolutely lo—um, lucked out to meet you.”

Weston looked at her, seeming puzzled for a moment, then sat down on the bed next to her.

Dani smiled, hoping that she managed to cover up that gaffe. I love you. The word had been halfway out of her mouth before she’d caught her mistake. How could she love Weston? She’d barely known him for two days, that wasn’t nearly enough time to fall in love with a person. Hell, she’d been with Mikhal for twelve years and she still wasn’t sure what she’d felt about him, even in the best of times.

But with Weston, everything felt so natural, so easy. There was no overthinking or overanalyzing, there was only doing. Dani wanted Weston, Weston wanted Dani. It was as simple as that.

“What do you feel like doing today?” Weston asked as Dani sipped her coffee. “If you want to spend time with your friends, I’ll understand. I mean, I know you came here to vacation with them, not spend all your time keeping a lonely cowboy company, but tonight is kind of a big deal, the rodeo finals and I was—”

“Oh shit!” Dani sat bolt upright, a bit of coffee sloshing over the edge of the chipped mug. “Vacation.”

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to—” Weston began, but Dani just shook her head at him.

“No, no,” she said. “You didn’t do anything. You just reminded me that today’s Sunday and we’re scheduled to fly out tonight.”

Weston stared at her. “You’re what?

“Sorry, I should have told you,” Dani said, feeling absolutely awful. “Everything just moved so quickly, you know? And I lost track of time and—”

“Y’all are leaving tonight?” Weston’s face fell. “Forever?”

Dani closed her eyes and thought very hard for a moment before she could put together an answer.

The trip was just a weekend getaway, Sister’s Weekends were always short trips. She liked Weston, she liked him a lot; hell, she was a little concerned that she was falling in love with the handsome cowboy. But she lived in Chicago and he lived in the middle of nowhere, Wyoming.

They didn’t stand a chance.

“Weston,” Dani began, then a litany of excuses poured out of her mouth, each one sounding stupider and more callous than the last. “So,” she finished, “I’m sure we’ll keep in touch on Facebook and stuff. Maybe I’ll come back out here sometime or maybe you’ll swing through Chicago one day—”

Weston shook his head. “Dani, stop. We both know that you’ll never find your way back to Sagebrush—I mean, why would you? And why the hell would I have to go to Chicago? Hell, I have a hard time making down to Laramie sometimes, let alone goin’ all the way to Chicago.”

“Weston—”

“No, Dani, it’s okay,” Weston said, his voice weary. “We had a good time and that’s fine by me.”

“It is?” Dani asked.

Weston nodded. “It is.”

“Okay, good,” Dani lied. “I mean, I’m so glad that you’re cool with this just being a, you know, fling.”

The words hurt as Dani spoke them, but she didn’t know what else to do.

“What time do you leave?” Weston asked, finally.

“Our flight goes out at seven p.m.” Dani said.

“So you won’t be at the rodeo tonight?”

Dani paused while her heart broke. “No.”

“Okay.”

Weston set his hand on hers and Dani grasped it, hoping that her body could say what her mouth couldn’t. She leaned into Weston, then, collapsing against him and pressing her mouth against the scratchy beginning of a beard that covered his chin and throat.

“What are you doing, Dani?” Weston asked, and she could feel his Adam’s apple working against her mouth as he spoke.

“Saying goodbye,” she replied, kissing the tender jointure where his shoulder met his neck. “Saying goodbye.”

Dani pushed him back and straddled him, pinning him down with her strong thighs. They were both naked from the night before and Dani had no problem preparing Weston with her clever hands. Soon he was erect and she knelt over him, the head of his cock positioned at her entrance.

Weston was splayed beneath her, his blue eyes screwed shut and his head thrown back as Dani stroked his shaft. His chest was rapidly rising and falling and what looked like a trail of sweat trickled down his cheekbone. “Dani?” he muttered. “I’m ready. Please.”

Dani slid down him, letting his shaft fill her again. She was still sore from taking his enormous cock the previous night, but this was a good sore, the kind of sore that hurt wonderfully.

When he was fully seated within her, Dani began to ride her cowboy, driving her hips into him as her hands splayed out across his broad chest. There were small scars and scrapes covering his muscular body that weren’t visible to Dani in the dark the night before.

It hadn’t occurred to her that it might be hard being a rodeo rider and rancher. These were years of cuts and scrapes, gashes and bruises from things she couldn’t even imagine.

‘Weston—” Dani began, but he cut her off with a quick thrust upward.

“Fuck me, Dani,” he demanded, his normal politeness dissolving in his need. “Please fuck me. Fuck me until I can’t even think.”

Dani did. She threw her head back and rode, grinding down onto him with reckless abandon, the careful tenderness of the night before gone, lost in their desperation.

She rode him, pushed past her feelings and emotions until there was nothing left but her body and Weston’s body, joined together for the last time. Dani felt the hot coil of her impending orgasm roiling deep within her, but still she pushed through, staving off her own release until she felt Weston was close.

“Are you close?” she asked him, breathless and panting.

Weston nodded, his eyes still shut tight. “I’m close, Dani,” he muttered. “I’m so close, I just need—I just want—”

“What, baby?”

“Play with my balls?” Weston almost whispered his request, but Dani smiled. She could do that.

One hand reached around, cupping Weston’s large balls in her fingers and, with one gentle squeeze, he bucked his hips and came with a strangled cry.

Dani could feel him release inside her, his hot seed setting off her own orgasm and still she rode him through it, driving them both past the edge of pleasure into mindless madness.

Weston could barely look at Dani as they dressed and the brief kiss he gave her in the parking lot of the Dusty Spur Inn was emotionless.

“Thanks for coming up to Sagebrush, ma’am,” he said, tipping his black hat as Dani exited the truck, slamming the door behind her. “It was a pleasure knowing you.”

With that, Weston Stroh sped out of the parking lot and out of Danica Douglas’ life.
