½ cup minced onion
2 teaspoons minced garlic
3 tablespoons butter
1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
1 cup tomato sauce
½ cup water
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
dash of ground cloves or allspice
½ cup dry red wine
1 pound cooked macaroni
grated kefalotiri cheese
Sauté onion and garlic in butter. Add meat and brown, seasoning with salt and pepper. Blend tomato sauce and water, add to mixture, and bring to a boil. Add spices and simmer for 45 minutes. Add wine and simmer for 15 minutes. Serve over macaroni, with grated kefalotiri cheese.
