CHAPTER 26
-
Gathering of the Faithful

Sloan Kettering Hospital, Oncology Dept.:

Prince Abed Jihad was last to enter the hospital room. “I hoped to find you up and about,” he said

Father Klein patted the arm of his wheel chair, “I just had a treatment. I’ll be fine for tonight’s appearance.”

“This meeting,” Parker Wessels said, “is to present a united front to the answers of Jobynski and Connors.”

Only the third answer poses a problem,” Krauthammer said.

“I concur,” Father Klein said. The Prince and Parker Wessels nodded agreement.

“These are copies of their answers,” Krauthammer and passed each one a folder,

”Is it true,” He asked, "that the World Council of Churches in Belgium referred to Jobynski and Connors as the Two Witnesses?”.

“A grave error on our part.” Parker Wessels said.

“Yes,” the Prince said.” It gives those two a distorted sense of legitimacy. Even Muslims are using that Witness term.”

“Connor’s and Jobynski deny it,” Krauthammer said. “That expression will not be used by Fox News.”

“What about this Rabbinical intervention?” Parker Wessels asked.

“I didn’t hear about that?” Father Klein said.

“Opus Dei is slipping,” The Prince chided. “Saudi Intelligence picked it up.”

“England’s MI-6 confirmed it,” Wessels said.

“Was it Israel Chief Rabbis?” Father Klein asked.

The Chief Rabbi of England,” the Prince said. He convinced Israel’s Mossad to give shelter to Jobynski and Connors,”

“Where are they now?” asked.

. “We don’t know.” Prince Jihad said. “We traced an FBI phone call to an empty row boat in Jamaica Bay,”

“Opus Dei isn’t the only one slipping,” Father Klein smiled at the Prince. “I would like everyone here to protect Connors and Jobynski in whatever way possible. We must defeat them in debate before the world audience. If they were stopped from appearing it would be more damaging.” The three men nodded. Father Klein said. “Opus Dei will refrain from further action. The Priest looked up at the elegantly clad Prince, “Will you do the same with the Hibernians?”

Charles Krauthammer lost his inscrutable bearing and gaped at the Prince who opened his cell phone and ordered, “Cancel all operations against the two.” He closed his phone, looked at the astonished man and answered their unasked question. “The Saudi royal family supports the Palestinians. They are trained by the Provisional IRA for attacks against Israel. We pay the Irish.”

“Will they listen?” Wessels asked.

“They had better not spit in the plate they eat from,” the Prince said.

”I’ve made a list of priorities for this meeting.” Father Klein said and handed a copy to each. The Prince glanced at it and said, “I’ll bring you to the studio.”

. “I recommend we all arrive together.” Father Klein said. “It will make a bold statement about our solidarity.”

“No problem,” Parker Wessels said.

“Agreed,” the Prince answered. I’ll stop by and pick both of you up. If you need the wheelchair I will have a vehicle with a lift.”

“That won’t be necessary,” Father Klein said.

“I’ll be at the studio,” Krauthammer said.

“I’d like you and your producer to arrive with us,” Father Klein said. “You represent the Jewish point of view and Fox News. It will be a great opportunity for a photo op.”

“Settled, Rev. Wessels, said, “How are we going to respond to these charges of idolatry and blasphemy?”

“By using Father Klein’s suggestion,” The Saudi Prince said. In the debate we use Jobynski and Connors as foils. I’ll explain…”

The Basement of EL AL Air Terminal Kennedy Airport:

“We’re completing arrangements for this evening’s show,” Mossad section Chief Jeff Caspi told the two FBI men.

“I hope you informed my office to provide full protection,” Heidrick said.

“The FBI said they will take every precaution.”

“We’ll need it,” the messenger said. “Opus Dei and the Irish are capable of destroying that entire building to kill these two.” He nodded to Jobynski and Connors sitting by a table at the far end of the room.

“Sniffer dogs and traffic surveillance is already on the scene.” Caspi said and answered his cell phone. “We have an MPA,” he said. “

“What’s an MPA?” the messenger asked.

“Multi Profile Alert,” Caspi said. “They’re coming in on a non-stop flight from Japan.”

“Profiling is illegal in the United States,” Heidrick said.

“This terminal is Israeli territory,” Caspi said. “Would you like to see us operate?”

“You’ll let us out of the basement?” Heidrick asked.

You’ll be chaperoned,” Caspi said and led the way. Two Israelis walked in front of the FBI men and two more behind. Over the P.A. system a woman’s voice announced, “Will Mrs. Michael Murphy meet her Mother at Arrivals Gate 32.”

“That’s the signal for our people to take up positions,” Caspi said. He led the group onto a one way glass enclosed ramp overlooking the arrival lounge opposite Gate 32,”

“There seems to be a mess on the floor,” the messenger said pointing down at cleaning people mopping up a large area where some dark substance had spilled.”

“We caused that,” Caspi said. “The cleaners are my men. We can get most people out of the area before the suspects arrive.”

How many are you expecting?” Heidrick asked.

“Five,” Caspi said. “Two in one group and three others seated together.”

“Weren’t they examined by security in Tokyo?” Heidrick asked.

Yes,” but not by our people,” Caspi said. “May 30th 1972,” “Do either of you remember?”

“I wasn’t born yet,” the messenger said.

I was nine,” Caspi said. “Three Japanese came from Honolulu killed 26 Puerto Rican tourists and wounded 80. The Palestinians hired them for the job.”

“You think these five have something to do with Jobynski and Connors?” Heidrick asked.

Our people on the plane are suspicious.” Caspi said. He touched his ear phone, “I’ve just received word their luggage is clean.”

“Look down there,” the messenger said. “That pregnant lady pushing the baby carriage is walking past your cleaning people towards the passengers.”

She’s not pregnant.” Caspi said. That’s bullet proof armor under her dress. There are two automatic shotguns in that carriage. The rabbit ears on top of the carriage are her aiming sights.”

Heidrick watched the passengers exit into the lounge single file. Three Japanese men appeared. They were unobtrusively surrounded by a group of young people who walked them off to a room with a sign, “Exclusive Gold Card Holders Only”. A Japanese man and woman were also ushered into that room. Caspi listened to his ear phone then said to Heidrick, “We’ll turn them over to your people. We have no reason to hold them.”

“Isn’t it time to leave for the studio?” Heidrick asked.

“Yes,” Caspi said, “Please instruct your other men to meet us at Fox studios. They are to take separate routes. My people got rid of the stolen cars you arrived in.”

“How do you know that?” the messenger asked.

The Hibernians are not the only ethnic group on the New York Police Force,” Caspi said. “The House of David is smaller but efficient. Your people will have rented cars. You’ll come with us.”

Once again Kathy and Jobynski donned bullet proof vests. She was given the briefcase shield, he an automatic pistol and three extra clips. They left the airport in a ten seat rental van. Jeff Caspi placed the FBI agents and five armed Mossad men in seats surrounding Jobynski and Kathy. The sun was down and they merged into the headlights of traffic on the L.I. Expwy. They paid the Midtown Tunnel toll, then under the East River and turned east on 1st Avenue.

“This isn’t the way to Fox Studios,” Kathy said. No one answered.

The driver turned right on 67thSt. ”You’re going the wrong way,” Kathy said.

“It’s a one way street,” Jobynski said.

“We’re only going one way,” Caspi replied

“To where?” Kathy asked.

“The rear entrance of Sloan Kettering Hospital,” Caspi said. “You will broadcast from here.”

“But our agents went to Fox Studios,” Heidrick said.

“And hopefully so will everyone who wants to stop these two from appearing:” Caspi answered.

“How did you arrange it?” Heidrick asked.

“With the help of Father Klein,” He has his group coming to pick him up and isn’t well enough to leave the hospital.”

“Will he be able to take part in the debate?” Kathy asked.

He wouldn’t miss it for the world.” Caspi said and slid the rear door open at the hospital service entrance. The one light bulb above the entrance revealed men in the shadows with weapons at the ready. “They are ours,” Caspi said. “You two stay in the middle of my men as we enter and walk through the building. The light over the service entrance went out. Jobynski and Kathy were hustled into the building to the freight elevator. They exited at the third floor, onto a stage with props, tables and chairs similar to those in Fox Studios. Sniffer dogs and handlers were completing an inspection of the auditorium aisles and seats.

“You can’t bring the audience here without giving away the location,” Jobynski said.

“You’ll have a very special audience,” Caspi said. “So don’t bullshit them!”

“The patients?” Kathy asked.

“And some staff,” Caspi said. “You can sit at your table on stage. We’ve flown in a film crew from Hollywood. The others on the panel will arrive shortly.

Jeff Caspi positioned his men throughout the Hospital Auditorium. He approached Kathy and Jobynski, leaned down and whispered, “I and the world are hoping you have the answer to why we are here on earth. Lie to these patients and you won’t have to worry about terrorists killing you. I’ll make certain you require the hospital services.”

Too stunned to reply, Kathy and Jobynski watched the tall Israeli stride away. He was passed by Professor Dotty Moxon and her two children. They appeared troubled and uncertain. Dotty Moxon caught sight of Jobynski and Kathy. “Can you tell us why we’re here?” She asked.

Intensive Care Ward:

“You scared the hell out of me,” Parker Wessels said.

“I didn’t think you had much hell in you,” Father Klein chuckled.

“Why did they bring you to intensive care?” the Prince asked.

“The situation is unchanged,” Father Klein said. “Not to worry.

“We’d better leave for the studio,” the Producer said.

The show will be broadcast from the hospital auditorium,” Father Klein said. “Your Page will take you to the auditorium and where a film crew awaits your instructions. Mr. Krauthammer will remain, there’s much to discuss.”

+++

An hour later the Page entered the hospital room. ”Gentlemen,” he said, “it is show time.” He pushed Father Klein’s wheelchair leading the spokesmen for half the world’s population to the auditorium. On stage he placed Father Klein at the table with Reverend Parker Wessels and Prince Abed Jihad. All the men acknowledged Professor Dotty Moxon who asked, “Father, how’s the back of your belly button?”

“Without hesitation he said, “Playing tag with my liver.”

Dotty Moxon burst into laughter, “You’re the first one to ever answer,”

“At the moment that’s exactly how I feel.”

Charles krauthammercalled the producer aside asking, “How is everything going?”

“Smoothly,” he said. “The Page has been a great help.”

“How did he get here?” asked.

“I don’t know. You’d better take your seat, we’re about to broadcast to the largest audience in history.”

Krauthammer rubbed his chin, glanced at the Page and took his place at the desk between the four panelists on his right, Jobynski and Kathy on his left.
