This appendix is a collection of notes on the capabilities, limitations, and prerequisites of the major import and export formats that Inkscape supports.
For importing some formats, Inkscape uses external pieces of software that you will need to download and install if you want to use this format. As a rule, if you don’t have this external software installed (or if it is not in PATH), Inkscape will simply omit this format from the list of supported formats in the Open or Import dialogs.
