The Temple of Moonbeams 1990

A moonbeam passed me at speed, where did it go?

In yonder cave, along the shore, a stone’s throw

Another, another, from where they came.

Lighting the darkness, never to be the same.

A strumming of a mandolin fills my ears,

Faster towards the cave, no inner fears.

My feet tread lightly, as if to dance,

I see two moonbeams, holding hands, a merry dance.

To the cave, dark, cold, dank, dripping water,

Oh dear, am I the Lamb to slaughter?

Inside soft moss, drums beat,

Onward tambourines sound, I’m in for a treat.

Suddenly before my eyes,

Moonbeams dancing what a surprise,

A moon face shadow upon the wall,

Happiness time was had by all.

The dancing became more frantic, and hymns began to sound

As the moon rose from the ground.

Moonbeams stand in reverence and peace,

A special moonbeam was to find release.

No ordinary pale moonbeam was she,

Colours so bright, for all the world to see.

Slowly into the people’s heart,

She was to take a big part.

The cold cave touched my soul,

A sight to see part of the Lord’s greater goal,

Fading now dawn is rising,

A procession for the new moonbeam, now is this surprising.
