A warm Jack Daniel’s toddy has been known to comfort many on a chilly day. Any of these are especially handy for cold weather and late-season tailgating. Keep a warm batch ready in a thermos at half-time.
2 ounces Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey
Spoonful of honey
Cinnamon stick
A good squeeze of fresh lemon juice
Boiling water
Pour Jack Daniel’s into a mug. Add a spoonful of honey, the cinnamon stick, and lemon juice. Top with boiling water and stir. Sit down. Relax. Enjoy.
3 ounces tomato juice
3 ounces beef broth
Dash of Worcestershire sauce
Dash of hot pepper sauce
Squeeze of fresh lemon juice
2 ounces Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey
Lemon slice
Heat the tomato juice and beef broth in a saucepan or microwave-safe mug. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, and lemon juice. Pour Jack Daniel’s into a mug and top with the hot tomato juice mixture. Garnish with a lemon slice.
Jack Daniel’s Warm Pear Nectar Sipper
4 ounces hot pear nectar
2 ounces Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey
1 tablespoon maple syrup
Nutmeg and lemon slice
Combine the nectar, Jack Daniel’s, and maple syrup in a mug. Garnish with a sprinkle of nutmeg and a lemon slice.
1 cup hot beef bouillon
1 ounce Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey
Dash hot pepper sauce
Slice of lemon
Finely chopped green onion
Combine the bouillon, Jack Daniel’s, and hot pepper sauce in a big mug and enjoy the rich, steaming, brothy Jack with a slice of lemon and green onions.
Makes 16 servings
1 quart apple cider
1 cup orange juice
1 lemon, sliced
1 orange, sliced
1 cinnamon stick
1 tablespoon whole cloves
3 cups Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey
Combine the cider, orange juice, lemon and orange slices, cinnamon stick, and cloves in a large pot. Simmer about 10 minutes for the spices and juices to meld. Stir in Jack Daniel’s and reheat. Serve in mugs.
For a single serving: Place 2 ounces Jack Daniel’s, a lemon slice, an orange slice, and cinnamon stick in a mug. Top with boiling apple cider.
