You may have wondered why we’ve stuck to lowercase letters only up until this point. Unlike lowercase letters, capital letters do not have a specific set of strokes that make up each letter. Though some of the letters do share similar strokes and curves, many do not. For this reason, they can be trickier to master. The following pages contain exemplars of different styles of capital letters. In the same way we varied our lowercase letters, you can vary these by changing the slant, thickness of letters, curves, etc., to better suit your personal lettering style.
As with all the previous lettering exercises, use tracing paper and a brush pen to practice by tracing over the style of letter that you like best. Once you feel comfortable, switch over to a paintbrush and watercolor.
