Commandments

Abstain from the field,

from the hollow boned earth, the thick

bones of winter.

Abstention means abandon.

Means sorrow.

Means remember.

Forgetting means the red wings smother

the grass, means the shell of an ear on a mountain

of bark.

Love is a religion.

Flesh is a religion.

Use the body like a drum.

And so, where once the field,

now a cave; where once the bird,

now a sky that belongs to the sea.

Fallow means all the fields are closed.

Closed means the earth is in the body,

means the body is full of wings.

Wings mean you are alive

and someone is not. Alive means

you swallow each day like a stone.
