PART THREE

Spider-Man 3 (2007)

INT. PETER’S APARTMENT - NIGHT*

PETER, in his SPIDER-MAN SUIT, no mask, sits on the edge of his bed, tense, ready. His gaze is intent on the POLICE SCANNER sitting on his nightstand.

The scanner squawks intermittently, letting Peter in on the criminal goings-on throughout the city. He doesn’t respond to any of them, though. He is listening for one thing and one thing only: news of Flint Marko.

He is ready to exact his super revenge.

INT. PETER’S APARTMENT - LATER

Peter now stands, his enthusiasm wavering. He’s tired, leaning against the doorpost, willing his eyes to stay open. He is losing the fight.

In the background, the scanner still squawks, still steering clear of the news Peter craves.

DISSOLVE TO:
INT. PETER’S APARTMENT - LATER

Peter is now lying on the bed, asleep, the scanner still squawking.

Peter’s sleep is troubled. Restless. We zoom in on him from above as THUNDER AND LIGHTNING begin outside. Suddenly, Peter jumps in his sleep, and as he jumps, we …

Uncle Ben, sitting in his car.

Flint Marko, tapping on the window of the car, startling Uncle Ben.

INT. PETER’S APARTMENT - CONTINUOUS

We are low to the ground, from the POV of the SYMBIOTE, the black substance that attached itself to Peter’s scooter. The view is distorted, and we can hear the alien’s thrum as if it came from our own lips.

We’re scanning, scanning the room. We see Peter on the bed; he startles awake. Seeing nothing, he goes back to sleep.

Slowly, we glide along the floor, strewn with clothes and other detritus. We glide up to the bed and along the blankets, up to Peter’s costumed hand.

CUT TO:

Peter lying on the bed, asleep. On the far wall behind him, we see a silhouette, a strange shape made up of sentient strands of goo. The strands form into a rudimentary hand, or claw.

The claw leans in and seemingly attacks Peter.

Peter jumps, but remains asleep.

EXT. SIDEWALK - CONTINUOUS (B/W)

Uncle Ben, lying on the sidewalk, trying to evade a captor.

INT. PETER’S APARTMENT - CONTINUOUS

The strands of black goo are now making their way up Peter’s hand, fusing themselves to his Spider-Man suit.

EXT. SIDEWALK - CONTINUOUS (B/W)

Uncle Ben, still trying to get away.

Flint Marko holds a gun on him. He shoots.

Uncle Ben takes the shot.
BACK TO:

INT. PETER’S APARTMENT - CONTINUOUS

Peter jumps again, but remains asleep. The symbiote continues attaching itself, working its way up Peter’s suit. It is fusing with his other hand now. Now it’s working its way down the legs of the suit.

FLASH CUT TO:
INT. ABANDONED WAREHOUSE - NIGHT (B/W)

We flash back to Peter, in the first film, and his confrontation with the car thief:

THIEF
Just give me a chance!

PETER
What about my uncle?
Did you give him a chance? Did you?

The thief goes out the window.

He’s lying on the docks below, dead.

BACK TO:
INT. PETER’S APARTMENT - CONTINUOUS

The symbiote makes its way up Peter’s chest, re-creating the famous Spider-Man icon in the process. Up his neck. The strands reach out from all directions to cover his face.

The strands reach into his mouth, his eyes, his nose, and as they do, Peter wakes with a start, eyes wide. But it is too late.

We zoom in on Peter’s widening eye as he is completely covered by the strands.

The bonding is complete. Peter now has a means to quench his thirst for revenge.
