■ Justin monitors and physically remains between the dog and the potentially triggering or triggered stimulus, aka Matthew.

■ Justin detects the calm being exhibited by everyone, so he moves the mat closer to Matthew while maintaining his position between Pacino and the little man.

■ Pacino has been so well behaved, Justin (still monitoring) has asked Matthew’s mom to give him a treat.

■ With time and a few rewards, Pacino lies in repose and all parties are comfortable. Note: Matthew and his mother give Pacino a treat together.
