WHAT DID THEY SEE?
THE ARTICLE APPEARED ON THE SECOND page of the ‘Garside Gazette.’ It was a single column piece, unaccredited and easy to miss. It read:
‘Police seek information in Emily killing.
Garside police, seeking the perpetrator of the brutal murder of 4-year-old Emily Black, appealed today for information from the public. DI Christopher Yarrow, heading the investigation, has asked that anyone who had been in the vicinity of Bolehill Copse, the site of the murder, in the days preceding the murder to come forward and assist – had they seen anyone acting suspiciously, appearing to be looking for secluded locations, anyone who seemed out of place in the copse. ‘Absolute confidentiality is guaranteed,’ Mr. Yarrow assures. ‘We will not ask anyone their purpose in being there. We are only asking, what did they see?’
Anyone with information, however insignificant they may consider it to be, is requested to contact West Garside police on Garside 7489 or call in person and ask to speak to DI Yarrow or DS Harding.
