YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE GOOD AT EVERYTHING

I once had a friend who, for her whole life, wanted to be “good at plants.” No matter how many beautiful houseplants she bought, no matter how many articles she read about taking care of them, they all died. Eventually, she stopped buying plants, until one day, someone recommended that she try growing succulents. So she did. And to her surprise, they didn’t die. (You might be thinking that it’s impossible to kill a succulent, but I can tell you from personal experience that it’s definitely not.)

You don’t have to be good at all things in general—you can just be good at one thing. You don’t have to be “just not a plant person”; you can be “a succulent person.” If you feel like you haven’t quite found your niche yet, it doesn’t mean you’re way off base in your searching.
