Christmas Cranberry Punch

The cranberry is a great complement to the citrus, keeping the drink from being overly sweet. Serve with gingerbread cookies for a festive treat.

Makes 8 to 10 servings.

8 cups water

4 cups cranberry juice

1 cup orange juice

4 tablespoons fresh-squeezed lemon juice

1 cup sugar

1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, or 1 cinnamon stick

1/2 cup orange liqueur (optional)

Fresh cranberries or orange slices for garnish

1. Put water, cranberry juice, orange juice, lemon juice, and sugar in the slow cooker. Stir together until sugar is dissolved.

2. Add cloves and cinnamon. Cook on Low for 2 to 3 hours.

3. When ready to serve, remove cinnamon stick, strain any solids, and stir in orange liqueur, if desired.

4. Ladle into mugs, and garnish with fresh cranberries or orange slices.
