Here is a treat that you can prepare in the slow cooker for short-notice occasions. It only needs about an hour of cooking time. While this is happening (and you don’t need to stir), you can cut up things to dip into it, like bananas, apples, pound cake, pretzels, and other goodies.
Makes 4 servings.
3/4 pound good-quality bittersweet chocolate, chopped
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
3 tablespoons liqueur or liquor or rum extract if you want a non-alcoholic fondue
1. Combine chocolate, cream, and liqueur or extract in the slow cooker. Cook on Low for 45 to 60 minutes, or until chocolate melts. Stir gently toward the end of the cooking time.
2. Serve directly from the slow cooker, using large toothpicks or fondue forks to dip the selection of foods.
