Incense and Oil Blends

These incense and oil blends are suggestions only. It is best to use whatever scents are evocative for you. If these blends don’t seem to trigger you psychically, try other recipes. For additional recipes, see The Complete Book of Incense, Oils and Brews by Scott Cunningham.

Wisdom Incense

Dried herbs needed:

• 1/3 cup cinnamon (cassia) powder.

• 1/3 cup frankincense resin.

• 1/3 cup sandalwood powder.

• 1/8 cup lavender.

Blend these together in a mortar, then add in the following essential oils, stirring well:

• 2 drops cinnamon oil.

• 5 drops myrrh oil.

Wisdom Oil

Into 1/4 cup of grapeseed oil, blend the following essential oils:

• 2 drops cinnamon oil.

• 4 drops myrrh oil.

• 3 drops lavender oil.

Dark Moon Incense

Blend the following dried herbs together:

• 1/4 cup sandalwood powder.

1/8 cup patchouli.

• 1/2 cup myrrh.

To this add the following essential oils and stir together:

10 drops jasmine oil.

4 drops chamomile (or lemon) oil.

Dark Moon Oil

Into 1/4 cup of grapeseed oil, blend the following essential oils:

7 drops jasmine.

2 drops chamomile (or lemon).

3 drops patchouli.

1 drop sandalwood.

Blessing Oil

Into safflower or grapeseed oil, blend the following herbs—one cup of oil to 1/2 cup of the following herb blend:

• 1 part juniper.

• 1 part basil.

• 1 part jasmine blossoms.

Set the mixture on a sunny windowsill for about two weeks.Strain out the herbs.To this oil blend in:

• 9 drops jasmine oil.

White Moon Incense

• 1/4 cup willow powder.

• 1/4 cup bamboo powder.

• 1/4 cup copal resin “tears.”

Stir this together and add the following essential oils:

• 3 drops lemon grass oil.

• 3 drops frankincense oil.

• 3 drops wisteria oil.
